The Waiting Game

Our second arrival of Monday – After keeping her waiting and pondering, alongside the ‘late pregnancy mind games’ of trusting the process, this little one chose Easter Monday as his birth date.
This incredible Mama welcomed her gorgeous little boy in the pool at home.
A 2nd homebirth for this lovely family, due to having moved area, her first with the Surrey Hills Team ☺️

Foxy Friend

This first time Mumma was supported by the team throughout pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period. A sad farewell this week to this wonderful family and their new little lady as they continue their postnatal journey as a family of 3 – not to mention their lovely doggo of course and this lovely Foxy Friend. #BirthisAmazingWhereeveritHappens

‘Ello there Little One

A catch up from a farewell we had over the weekend. This incredible mum was supported by her named midwife when she took changing plans in her stride, made an informed decision and beautifully birthed her little girl at Royal Surrey.
Her 2nd baby under the care of our team! Continuity and case loading playing that all important role for our families and us as your care providers.
Two lovely big brothers eagerly awaited their sisters arrival 💙💙💖

Swift

‪This little fella was in such a hurry to arrive earthside that he couldn’t wait a moment longer and birthed speedily in to his fathers hands before anyone else could arrive!

His mummy had this to say about his arrival…

“Where do I even begin…Wilbur Robin Alfred Ruocco was born at home on Friday 1st May, delivered by his very own Daddy. (I think this is the only time Mike has taken a selfie 🤳)! This experience has completely transformed me and I feel so grateful for all that I have.

Thank you Wilbur for doing it exactly as I had hoped, and for giving me such a positive experience in a time of strangeness. I owe you a lot little fella.

My care from the home birth team came quite late into the pregnancy as we had moved to the area when I was 33 weeks, but instantly the team made you feel very welcome.

The opportunity to meet you all has made such a huge difference to my mindset and knowing I had the support of you all made me feel at complete ease.

It has been first class, you are a fantastic group of women who have turned my experience of birth into such a positive one. You have supported my decisions and fulfilled me with absolute confidence and calmness, and for that I’ll be eternally grateful.”

Hale Lodge March 2018

As I embark on writing down my birthing story I stop and look down at the most precious and beautiful sight – my newborn baby girl.

The beginning seems a crazy place to start – to imagine all the steps that led to the ‘welcome to the world’ moment!

I envisioned a Homebirth to be calm, relaxed and empowering and it proved to be that and sooooo much more.

Confidence and Sweet Tea

I feel quite emotional writing this. it’s just over two weeks since my birth and I am quite sad that it is getting further in the past. I don’t think many mums feel this way about their birth experience!

Recently being discharged and meeting my health visitor reminded me of all the reasons I wanted a home birth, with a team that understood and respected my wishes for a calm, relaxed experience.

Each one of the Surrey Hills team was incredible. I am truly grateful for them helping me have the birth experience I wanted. Continue reading
