Introducing… Lucy

Hello! My name is Lucy and I am thrilled to have joined the Surrey Hills Homebirth team in September 2019.

My interest in midwifery was born during my previous career in childcare, where I loved building trusting relationships with families. Through years as a maternity volunteer and eventually a maternity support worker at Royal Surrey, my passion grew and I went on to complete my degree and Midwifery training at Frimley Park. Throughout workingacross inpatient wards, labour ward and the midwifery led unit, building these relationships with women and their families has remained at the centre of my practice.

I was extremely fortunate as a student to spend my elective placement with the Surrey Hills team. This fueled my passion for homebirth and the continuity of care provided within acase loading model. I witnessed how powerful continuity and trusting relationships are in facilitating a safe environment that both respects and enables physiological birth. This experience truly shaped me as a midwife, and I feel extremely honoured, priviledged and excited to be a member of this fantastic team!

I look forward to supporting your journey to parenthood!

Introducing…Anna

Hello my name is Anna and I am so pleased to have recently joined the Surrey Hills Home Birth Team!

During my career I have enjoyed working in different maternity units, I trained in Sheffield, then moved to Chelsea & Westminster and have now settled in Surrey. I have had the privileged of working with different colleagues across varied environments including delivery suites, birth centres and most recently the antenatal ward at Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Whilst a student I was able to look after women wishing to birth at home and realised that when women feel safe, in control and listened to, they are powerful and strong.

My passion is normality and empowering women to have a positive birth experience and being a home birth midwife means that I can provide continuity of care and get to know women and their families to build trusting relationships.

Hello My Name Is Kirsty

Hello my name is Kirsty and I have recently joined the Surrey Hills Homebirth Team.

I have four children of my own and through my fourth pregnancy I was fortunate enough to receive one-one care with the same midwife from Booking through to Discharge.  This made a huge impact on me, and although I had always wanted to become a midwife, this positive, empowering experience gave me the nudge I needed to undertake my training, enabling me to replicate this to those in my care.

Being a member of a case-loading team, providing true continuity of care, enhances the perinatal experience for those we care for, as well as enabling me to support women in the choices they make, empowering them to birth their way.  I love building these relationships with women and their families and I am passionate about working within this model of care.

Hello My Name is Laura

Hello my name is Laura. I’ve been a member of the Surrey Hills Home Birth Team since August 2011. I love working as part of this team and truly enjoy caseloading women from their booking appointment right through to 10 days after birth. For me, caseloading is the most rewarding way to practise midwifery. I am also lucky enough to have had both my children at home under the care of the Surrey Hills Home Birth Team. Both of which were incredible experiences.

Hello My Name is Tanya…

Hello my name is Tanya I’ve been a member of the homebirth team since it’s creation.

I have worked in all areas of the hospital and community during my time at RSCH. During my working life I have had various jobs including nurse, barmaid, business travel administrator, a stint working for the Army in a transport squadron but midwifery is my vocation.

I am a Professional Midwifery Advocate, this role enables me to support both women and the midwives caring for them to have the best birth experience possible.

My aim is to empower women to birth the way they want in the place they want.

I have 2 children, 2 dogs , 2 cats and a long suffering husband, obviously listed in order of importance 😉.

Come back tomorrow to meet another member of the Surrey Hills team.
