Things don’t always go according to plan during pregnancy or birth.
Medical complications meant that a homebirth was no longer on the cards for this incredible couple, so on Saturday they birthed their beautiful baby boy at the Royal Surrey County Hospital supported by their named Surrey Hills midwife.
Members of the Surrey Hills Homebirth team will be in attendance at this local pregnancy, birth and parenting event. Pop along to have a chat with us if you would like to learn more about your birth place choices or are just curious to learn more about our #Homebirth service.
Our colleagues from the Royal Surrey Maternity Department will also be in attendance if the Midwifery Led Unit (MLU) or Obstetric Unit (Delivery Suite) are more your cup of tea.
There will also be the opportunity to learn more about Surrey Heartlands’ plans to transform local maternity services implement services in line with the recommendations of #BetterBirths
Members of the Surrey Hills Home Birth Team will be in attendance at the Royal Surrey County Maternity Unit’s Information Evening: Your Pregnancy Matters, on Thursday the 20th of April.

*A talk by a Supervisor of Midwives- explanation of the role, how and when to contact, opportunity to discuss your individual pregnancy/birth plan
*A tour of the maternity unit

The talented people at the Royal Surrey County Hospital Photography and Graphics department have created a fantastic virtual tour of the RSCH Maternity Department, providing a concise overview of the birth place choices available to our clients.
It video showcases the hard work that has taken place over the last few years to enhance the aesthetic of the department and create a more comfortable, homely and hormone enhancing environment in which to give birth.
So grab a cuppa, sit back and take a virtual tour of the unit from the comfort of your own home. For those of you planning to birth your baby in the most comfortable and homely environment you know- your own home- this might be the closest you ever get to the maternity unit on level G. For those of you still exploring your options, the tour is a great starting point for your research.
The video is provided in addition to weekend tours of the unit which will continue to be offered to you from your 34th week of pregnancy and tours included with antenatal education classes. Never afraid promote client choice through the use of social media, the team are well represented in the video.
