Royal Surrey Information Evenings: Your Pregnancy Matters
If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy you, and your partner, are invited to the Royal Surrey County Hospitals quarterly information evening to discover more about the care and services Maternity department offers.
*An over view of antenatal services including community care and mental health support
*A talk by Antenatal Education Midwife- to explore the classes on offer and the opportunity to discover the best selection of classes for you.
*Members of the Homebirth, Delivery Suite and Midwifery Led Teams available to discuss your care options.
*A talk by a Professional Midwifery Advocate- explanation of the role, how and when to contact, opportunity to discuss your individual pregnancy/birth plan
*A tour of the maternity unit

Please note that from December the maternity unit will no longer be hosting weekend tours. All tours of the Maternity department will take place after the Your Pregnancy Matters Events or as part of some antenatal education classes. You are welcome to join us for the tour without attending the talk.
Early Pregnancy Class (approx. 12-16 weeks): A 2 hour class covering all the common questions women have in early pregnancy.
Antenatal Workshop (approx. 32 weeks onwards): A 6 hour antenatal workshop run by the community midwives that covers all the important aspects of labour, birth and the first few days with a new born. The workshops are taught in Guildford, Godalming, Farnham and Haslemere.
VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean section) class: An evening presentation on your choices for birth after caesarean section. Please phone 01483 406711 to confirm your attendance.
Antenatal Breastfeeding Class (approx. 32 weeks onwards): The breastfeeding class is taught by our breastfeeding specialist midwife. During the class she will discuss principles behind breastfeeding, how to get breastfeeding off to a good start, anatomy of the breast, how to hand express, positioning at the breast, how to know feeding is going well, how the RSCH supports breastfeeding, what you need to breastfeed and where to go for support. Antenatal Class for Young Mums: This Informal group for young parents is designed to not only provide information on labour, birth and baby care but is the ideal place to meet other young mums in a similar position to you. Physical Preparation for Childbirth classes: The Women’s Health specialist Physiotherapy Team at the Royal Surrey offer 3 childbirth preparation classes,starting in early pregnancy, focusing on managing the physical aspects of pregnancy and childbirth.
