Hoppy Little Bunny

Continuing our catch up of recent days with another farewell for the team as we wish this lovely family well as they venture on in their postnatal days as a family of 3 with their gorgeous little bundle!
It’s been a priviledge to provide Antenatal, labour and postnatal support for this lovely mum, alongside the support of our wonderful colleagues at The Royal Surrey to welcome her little boy earthside.

Softest of cuddles

This little one couldn’t wait to meet his Mummy and Daddy and made a surprise early appearance.
With the team covering all the night shifts in the hospital, we were so pleased that we could be there to support this Gorgeous mama as she welcomed him earthside.
We have continued to support their postnatal journey as they settle into life as a family of three, and said a sad farewell this week as they were discharged from our care.

A Colourful Welcome

A gorgeous colourful celebration to welcome this little girl earthside. A joy for us all to be able to offer continuity of care during this time and be able to support our caseload as they welcome their little ones and expand their families! An excited big sister awaiting their arrival home with this little bundle of joy.

Continuing their postnatal care and a sad farewell from the team last week as they continue their parenting journey as a family of four.

Speedy little Girl!

This little one knew exactly when and where she wanted to meet her incredible mama and we were privileged to be there for support. Although, it really was only a little guidance as she totally rocked at birthing her baby. These gorgeous fluffy friends and a lovely big sister were excited to meet her when they got home later that day!

Welcome Friend

pre COVID suspension

We were priviledged to support this lovely mum at home in early labour and then, with the support of our lovely colleagues at Royal Surrey, welcomed her little boy earthside.
We continue with all their postnatal care and support as they navigate the early days of becoming a family of 3.

Peekaboo little cub!

It was such a priviledge to support this incredible mum as she welcomed her little girl earthside in the pool in our MLU at The Royal Surrey maternity unit. They were then discharged straight home from MLU to a very excited big sister!
It’s been such a difficult week for everyone, however, being able to offer this continuity certainly softens the impact of our suspension. We continue to provide all postnatal care, alongside and included in our clinics each week, and are so grateful for these photos as the birth announcements for our caseload.

Service Suspension and Support..

Not the start to the New Year we had hoped for.
After a difficult and disappointing few days for the team and our caseload, we are so grateful for the support of our antenatal education team of Caroline and Natalie (both former Homebirth Midwives) for putting together these sessions for support and reassurance to our caseload. Link to register is below, a letter is being sent out to the whole caseload with an access code for the registration – your midwife has this code too, so any queries, do get in touch.

As a small team it is not possible for us to provide 24/7 cover for births in the maternity unit but from the 31/12/20, Kirsty, Lucy C, Lucy M, Becca and Claire will be working Night shifts at the Royal Surrey’s birthing unit with the aim of supporting as many of you as possible when you have your babies, and supporting our wonderful colleagues to continue to provide safe and positive care during the pandemic.
We will be continuing all Antenatal and Postnatal care as a team by running 3 clinics a week. The other 4 days of the week will be maintaining an overview of the whole caseload and providing Oncall cover for the hospital for any of our ‘labouring mums’.

Plans will likely evolve over the coming days and weeks but we will endeavour to support and care for you as a team in what ever capacity we can.

We are still in the process of contacting everyone individually, please do be patient as we set up all the changes.

The suspension of the service will be reviewed every week by Amy, our Head of Midwifery and we will keep you all updated with any changes.

We continue to invite families who are interested in homebirthing, so please do continue to get in touch via our email address so that we can talk through your options individually.
Stay safe.
Best wishes,
Kirsty, Lucy, Lucy, Becca and Claire
The Surrey Hills Homebirth Team

The Force is Strong with this one!

A little catch up from last week, prior to the HB service suspension.
Many Congratulations to this lovely family as they welcomed their little boy earthside at home just as all their Christmas celebrations had ended. A little Jedi in the making with this strong boy in his Star Wars loving family, and two big brothers to adventure with!
